SPEC Process Engineering completes construction of new Manufacturing Site - Bedford MA

Biosystems Group, Inc (NYSE:ABI) in Bedford MA.

companies, has just completed a new Manufacturing Facility for Applied
Biosystems Group, Inc (NYSE:ABI) in Bedford MA.
SPEC's engineers and architects designed and constructed the greenfield
project to accommodate Applied Biosystem's manufacturing line which was
moved from Cambridge, MA in the late spring of 2003.
This project provides Applied Biosystems with the ability to manufacture
multiple batches and comply with customer and regulatory agency
documentation requirements.
The project highlights include:
a.. 30,000 sq. ft. single story high bay base building including 5,000
sq.ft. constructed to meet high hazard classification and an additional
9,000 sq. ft. of Equipment Penthouse, and space for office and QA/QC
functions.
b.. Process Utilities including RO/DI, Plant Air, 4 C & -20 C Glycol
Systems, Vacuum & High Vacuum.
c.. Waste treatment and waste storage areas and underground fire water
containment system.
d.. Bulk solvent storage Tank Farm with solvent metering and truck
unloading systems.
e. S88 compliant Delta V Batch control system.
SPEC Process Engineering & Construction, Inc delivered this project on a
Design / Build basis and was responsible for all aspects of the project.
SPEC's startup engineers were responsible for process systems startup get
Applied Biosystems back in production as soon as possible.
SPEC has constructed over 85M$ of manufacturing facilities construction in
the last 8 years, and has worked in over 50 manufacturing sites in New
England.
